After the devastation caused by Hurricane Mitch in 1998, SFA evaluated the most devastated regions of the country and built a community for 41 families (homes, clinic, church, recreation facilities) in the area of Salinas Grandes, outside of León.
Over 200 people live permanently in the proyect of San Jose de Salinas Grande. This is permanently supervised by a social asistant.

Everyone deserves to lead a dignified life, unfortunately, poverty often prevents this. We believe poverty is evitable. SFA works to reverse the misfortune by providing opportunities at a dignified life and a better future for Nicaragua’s poorest citizens. However, with half the country living in poverty, with less than a dollar a day, the task is a monumental one. Our success is dependent on the strength of our network and generosity of our donors and collaborators.
